Memories of a Redwood Tree was born out of my experience hiking among coast redwoods in northern California while studying at UC Berkeley. With their remarkable height and longevity, redwoods are some of the most awe-inspiring trees I have encountered, yet their existence is under threat from logging and other commercial activities; I wrote this piece as both a celebration of their qualities and a call for their preservation.
